Rotary's Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
We believe that diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) must be exemplified and embraced in everything we do in Rotary.
To ensure that we are achieving this ideal, our Board of Directors and DEI Task Force took action to strengthen the original DEI statement, which was adopted in 2019. The result is a renewed commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion:
At Rotary, we understand that developing a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.
We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people from all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, learning styles, religion, beliefs, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values and beliefs. Recognizing that individuals from certain groups have historically faced barriers to membership, participation and leadership, we are committed to advancing equity in all aspects of Rotary, including our community partnerships, so that every person has the necessary access to resources, opportunities and networks.
We believe that all people possess visible and invisible qualities that make them unique, and we strive to create an inclusive culture in which every person knows that they are valued and that they belong.
In keeping with our core value of integrity, we are committed to being honest and transparent about where we are in our DEI journey as an organization, and to continuing to learn and do better.
